Protein deficiency can lead to prostate cancer problems
Proteins exist in all the organisms. The cell needs proteins to carry out all of its functions.
Amino acids form these proteins which are organic compounds. The process of formation of protein is carried out in the stomach when food is broken down and digested.
Selenium is an essential mineral that acts as an antioxidant when incorporated into proteins and this can reduce the incidence of prostate cancer
The metabolic activity in the body requires proteins. Calories, which we know as the energy, are produced from protein, fat and carbohydrates from the food that we take.
Dairy products in various forms including cheese and milk, eggs, nuts, legumes and meat are the main source of proteins.
The food particles are broken down in the stomach continuously from which proteins are derived. The proteins are broken down through digestion by enzymes. The estimated requirement of protein of women are said to be lesser than men. While the men require 56 grams of protein per day, the women require 46 grams of protein per day. When the intake of protein is lower than the required intake, protein deficiency sets in.
Protein deficiency causes a number of health problems and may prove to be fatal. Kwashiorkor is a protein deficiency disease. It expresses itself with symptoms as diarrhea, apathy, fatty liver, failure to grow, edema of the legs and belly, flaky skin, and inactivity. Mental retardation is also known to be caused by protein deficiency. Poor people who face chronic hunger and nutritional deficiency are known to be the most susceptible. Those who are dieting and are on crash diet for weight loss also may face protein deficiency at times. Older people could develop protein deficiency when they do not have a balanced diet. A similar situation might also occur in people who are recovering from surgery, trauma or illness. The deficiency can be offset by the intake of protein rich food or special diet.
There are a variety of dietary supplements in the market containing carbohydrates, proteins, fats, minerals and vitamins. The source of protein is often soy, casein or whey. Flavors are added to make them tasty. These dietary supplements are available as energy drinks or energy bars. Energy bars offering primarily proteins are also available. Pure Protein Bar is also available in the market. These have more protein than other ingredients. Protein bars come in a variety of mouth watering flavors.
They give not only the added calories but also more protein. This ensures that you not only get the fuel, but more protein finds its way into your body.
Finding may explain anti-cancer activity
FoxM1 is one of the most highly over-produced proteins in cancer cells and is believed to play an important role is causing cells to become cancerous. Because production of the protein is not usually switched on in non-dividing cells
Epigenetic drugs, proteins and cancer
Epigenetic drugs designed to neutralize specific gene-modifying proteins in cancer cells, for example, could kill the cells by stymieing the genes they need to survive. Epigenetic drugs could also activate certain genes
‘Death by garbage’ – Improving the effectiveness of antibodies
Antibody-based cancer drugs. Antibodies are proteins produced by the immune system, with the ability to recognise and stick to other proteins with a high degree of accuracy. In the body, they are used to alert the immune system

Thanks for the article. I was reading the other day about how one of the B vitamins (B17 I think) may be able to prevent cancer. Do you know anything about this?
I am not sure that any one natural supplement on its own can claim to have the edge … the best results are usually found when a selectiin of natural ingredients are combined. But I think it is true that B17 is a vitamin that many people often lack in their diet and in my opinion, this imbalance can increase the risk of contracting illnesses such as prostate cancer
